MATERIALS: Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Pearl Cotton, size 5, 5 balls of any cotton. Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 7. ¼ yard of crinoline. ¼ yard of lining material. A 9 inch Zipper. Starting at the top (inside of purse) make a chain about 9 inches long. 1st row: 2 d c in 4th ch from hook (3 d c, counting the turning ch as 1 dc), * skip 2 ch, s c in next ch, skip 2 ch, 5 d c in next ch (a shell). Repeat from * across, ending row with skip 2 ch, s c in last ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: 2 d c in last s c made in previous row, * skip 2 d c of next shell, s c in next d c, 5 d c in next s c. Repeat from * across, ending row with s c between last d c of half shell and turning ch. Ch 3, turn. Repeat the second row until piece measures 13 1/2 inches in all, Fasten off Lay the crocheted piece on top of the crinoline and cut around. Baste or sew the crinoline to the crocheted piece. Sew one side of zipper across one short end on crinoline side. Cut a piece of lining slightly larger than the crocheted piece and place over crinoline. Fold into an envelope shape wrong side out and sew sides neatly. Turn to right side, open the zipper and sew in place. BUTTONLOOP... Ch 13, turn. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off. Sew ends of this chain at center of flap to make a loop for button. Sew on a button to correspond with buttonloop. |
