2 cups bread flour
1/2 cup sugar
5 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons shortening
1 cup raisins
1 egg
Milk
Sift dry ingredients together three times and work in the shortening. Add raisins. Beat egg, put in measuring cup and add enough milk to make two-thirds cup liquid. Add gradually to first mixture. Roll out dough one-half inch thick, cut in rounds and place on a greased pan. Bake in a hot oven. Time in baking, 20 minutes. Temperature, 450°. 12 biscuits.
Drop Biscuits
Add enough milk (two or three tablespoons) to Baking Powder Biscuit dough to make a mixture that can be dropped from a spoon. Drop on to a greased baking sheet or into muffin pans and bake in a hot oven.
