Make Baking Powder Biscuit dough, using four tablespoons shortening instead of two. Add one tablespoon sugar if desired. Roll dough about one-third inch thick and cut in rounds. Spread half of these biscuits with softened butter and cover with the remaining rounds of dough. Bake in a hot oven, split, butter, and serve hot with crushed fruit between the layers and on top. The dough may be baked in a large pan instead of in individual biscuits.
