1 cup prunes
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup prune juice
4 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons salt
1 yeast cake
1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 cups graham flour
About 5-1/2 cups white flour
Soak the prunes in cold water over night and cook until soft. Remove stones and cut in small pieces. Scald the milk and add shortening, prune juice, sugar, molasses and salt. When lukewarm, add yeast which has been softened in warm water. Add graham flour, prunes and enough white flour to make a stiff dough. Knead until smooth and let rise until doubled in bulk. Gut down, shape into loaves, and let rise again until doubled in bulk. Bake in a moderately hot oven. Time in baking, 1 hour. Temperature, 375°. 2 medium sized loaves.
