Bread Cake No.2: Date Added: 10 Aug 2009

Ingredients

1 yeast cake
2 cups flour
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup raisins
1/4 pound citron
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon lemon
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar

Cooking Instructions

Soften the yeast in the milk, which has been scalded and cooled
until lukewarm. Add one cup of flour, beat well and let rise until light — about one hour. Add the remaining ingredients, turn into a loaf pan and bake in a moderate oven. Time in baking, 1 hour. Temperature, 350°. 1 medium sized loaf.
