1/2 pound cocoa
1 pound sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pint water (boiling)
Mix the cocoa, sugar, and salt together, add the boiling water slowly, stirring while adding. Place the mixture in the upper part of a double boiler and cook for half an hour over boiling water, stirring occasionally. When cold, bottle and store in a cool place.
When using this syrup put three or four teaspoons of it in each cup and fill with scalded milk.
