1/2 cup shortening
4 ounces cream cheese
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon cream
2/3 teaspoon salt
1 cup cake or pastry flour
Cream the shortening, add the cheese and mix well. Add the sugar, cream, salt, and flour and mix well. Chill in the ice box over night and then roll out thin on a floured board. Cut into squares, fill the center with jelly or with sugar, cinnamon, and nuts, fold over the corners and bake in a moderate oven. Take out of the ice box only enough dough to work with at one time. Time in baking, 12 minutes. Temperature, 325°. 2 dozen cookies.
