1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
Cake or pastry flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Pinch salt
1/2 pound dates
Cream butter, add sugar and beaten egg. Sift baking powder and salt with a little flour and add to first mixture. Stone and cut dates, mix with a little flour and add. Add enough more flour to make dough stiff enough to roll. Press in pan and bake. Cut in long narrow pieces while hot. Time in baking, 20 minutes. Temperature, 350°. 3 dozen cookies.
