1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/4 cup boiling water
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Melt chocolate, add butter and blend thoroughly. Add boiling water gradually, stirring constantly. Add sugar and boil until a little tried on a cold plate gives the consistency desired for serving. The syrup will register about 232° on a candy thermometer. Cool slightly and add vanilla. Serve hot or cold.
