1-1/2 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup milk
Peach halves
Mix and sift dry ingredients, cut in the fat with a knife or rub in with tips of fingers. Add the milk and mix with a knife to keep the dough very light. In the bottoms of ramekins place halves of peaches, canned or fresh. On each put a tablespoon of the mixture and bake in a moderately hot oven. Serve with cream or milk, if fresh peaches are used. If the peaches are canned, serve with peach syrup. Time in oven, 15 minutes. Temperature, 360°. Servings, 8
