6 apples
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon gelatin
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 cup chopped nuts
Whipped cream
Boil sugar and water together ten minutes. Pare and core apples and cook slowly in syrup until apples are tender. Dissolve gelatin in the syrup. Cook brown sugar, milk and butter until syrup forms a soft ball in cold water. Add nuts. Place apples in serving dish, fill centers with caramel mixture, and pour syrup around them. Chill and garnish with whipped cream and chopped nuts.
Time in cooking, 30 minutes. Serves 6.
