1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
Pinch cream of tartar
1 egg white
1 teaspoon vanilla
Put sugar, water, cream of tartar, and unbeaten egg white in the top of a double boiler. Set over boiling water and beat with a rotary egg beater until the mixture is stiff enough to hold its shape. Add vanilla. The length of time required to make this frosting depends on how vigorously the beating is done. This frosting may be varied by the addition of chopped nut meats, candied fruit, cocoanut, chocolate and different flavorings. Enough for 1 cake.
