Delicious Bread Custard: Date Added: 16 Jul 2009

3 slices buttered bread
1 quart milk
4 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Few preserved cherries
Candied peel

Cooking Instructions

Beat the eggs and sugar slightly, then add milk and vanilla. Pour into a buttered baking dish and set the bread on top with buttered side up. Bake in moderate oven till firm. Decorate nicely on top with cherries and candied peel, and serve cold.
