2 squares chocolate
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup rich milk or light cream
1 egg
Pinch salt
1-2 cups heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
Melt chocolate and add one-quarter cup of the sugar. Add milk, a very little at a time, and stir until smoothly blended after each addition. Add egg, slightly beaten, and cook in a double boiler until thickened. Add salt. Chill, fold in cream beaten until stiff, and add vanilla. Pack in ice and salt and let stand four hours. Serves 8.
