1/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Pour boiling water over the shortening and stir until the fat is melted and the two ingredients become a smooth, thick mixture. Stir in lightly the flour with which the baking powder and salt have been sifted. Chill before rolling.
