4 slices stale bread
3 cups milk
2 eggs
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped dried figs
1/2cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla
Break or cut the bread into small pieces and soften in a little of the milk. Beat eggs and sugar together, add the rest of the milk and pour over bread. Add raisins, figs, nuts, and flavoring, and stir just enough to mix the fruit through the pudding. Pour into a baking dish and bake in a moderate oven until firm. Serve with cream. Time in baking, 50 minutes. Temperature, 350°. Serves 8.
