Cottage Pudding: Date Added: 11 Jun 2009

1/4 cup shortening
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
2-1/4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Cooking Instructions

Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and egg beaten well. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add alternately with milk to first mixture. Turn into buttered cake pan and bake in a moderate oven. Serve with Vanilla Sauce (see recipe).
Time in oven, 35 minutes. Temperature, 350°. Servings, 6
