St. James Pudding: Date Added: 11 Jun 2009

Ingredients

1-2/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon, each, cloves, allspice, nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup molasses
3 tablespoons shortening
1/2 pound dates, or figs

Cooking Instructions

Mix and sift dry ingredients, add milk, molasses, melted shortening, and dates or figs, cut in pieces. Turn into a greased mold and steam two and one-half hours. Serve with Arrowroot Sauce (see recipe). Servings, 4
