1/2 cup suet
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1-1/2 cups figs
1 cup dates
1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
Chop the suet fine and add milk, molasses and beaten egg. Cut the figs and dates in small pieces and dredge with a little of the flour. Add the remaining dry ingredients to the rest of the flour and sift. Add to the first mixture, beat well, and add fruit. Turn into a greased mold and steam three hours. Serve with Hard Sauce or Sunshine Sauce. Serves 8.
