Ingredients

1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1-1/8 cups cake or pastry flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cocoanut
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 egg whites

Cooking Instructions

Cream shortening and add sugar gradually. Add milk alter¬nately with the flour, baking powder, and salt which have been sifted together. Add cocoanut and vanilla and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in small pans with rounded bottoms.
Time in baking, 25 minutes. Temperature, 375°. 6 snowballs.

When cold, put two together to form balls, using a little jam, custard or any desired filling to hold them together. It may be necessary to cut a little off the tops of the cakes to make them fit together well. Frost all over with a soft, fluffy boiled frosting and roll in cocoanut. The frosting can be done most easily by holding the cake on a two-tined fork.
